Jophemism
jophemism / ʤɒ'fem'ɪsm
/ noun Colloquial a vague word used in
substitution for a blunt word when discussing professional sports, sportsmen or
sportswomen; usually bearing a dubious correlation with ordinary English usage: ‘ordinary’ and ‘average’ are jophemisms for
bad; ‘physical’ is a jophemism for violent (particularly when callously violent)
