Wrongonym
wrongonym / rɒŋ'ɒ'nɪm / noun a word vaguely similar with another
in pronunciation, yet so dissimilar only ignoramuses suffering diarrhoea of the
vowels could mistakenly apply it: ‘quite’
is a wrongonym for ‘quiet’ in the passage ‘please be quite, I have to work
early tomorrow’ [blend of wrong
and homonym]
